With 350 million images uploaded every day, photo sharing on Snapchat explodes
One of the visual web success stories of the past year has of course been Snapchat.
In fact, there are now 350 million daily photo shares on the network, up from 60 million February - an increase of 400% in seven months.
In June, Ansr.io posed the question - is Snapchat actually overtaking Facebook (and Facebook owned Instagram) as the world’s no.1 photo sharing network?
This followed Mary Meeker’s regular Internet trends presentation, which included some stats on social photography.
Back in May, Nary Meeker spoke about 500 million photos being uploaded every day on social media, the majority of those ending up on Facebook.
In other words, Snapchat users are uploading and sharing 70% as many photos as were shared across all social networks earlier this year.
Commenting on Snapchat’s photo sharing success, Business Insider puts it like this. Snapchat is the “medium for conversation, as opposed to the subject of conversation.” The photo is the message.
Hence, Ansr.io also found that almost one in three (30%) of Snapchat users that share photos, share more than six a day. This compares to 17% of Facebook users.
